# Network hybridisation: more resilience without doubling the bill

Doubling up on fibre is expensive and does not always protect against the failure mode that matters. Fibre plus satellite hybridisation delivers resilience at a controlled cost.

Many operators think about resilience in terms of dual fibre. That is an option, but it is costly and often exposes the same civil engineering risk: two cables in the same trench go down together.

## Distribute rather than duplicate

Hybridisation combines fibre with an independent satellite path. A multi-WAN device distributes traffic and fails over if one link degrades. The satellite path depends on no local ground infrastructure, which makes it genuinely independent.

## The hardware

On the hardware side, hybridisation is straightforward: one antenna integrated on the rooftop and a multi-WAN router in the technical room. TerraLink supplies and integrates the hardware; the service layer stays with the operator or service provider.

- Load distribution across two paths
- Automatic failover when one link weakens
- Independence from local civil engineering
- Controlled cost compared to dual fibre
